Cyprus-based sports betting operator 1XBet, official betting partner of the African Football Confederation (Caf), PSG and FC Barcelona, is the subject of a criminal complaint from the Moroccan national gambling authority MDJS for operating illegally in the African country.

The news made the front page of Morocco's French language newspaper Aujourd'hui le Maroc on 14 November, and was the subject of a no-holds-barred column by the daily's editorial director Saad Benmansour, in which he castigated a "delinquent enterprise", one of the "best-known pirates of gambling in the world", which he accused of defrauding the Moroccan state of at least 700 million Moroccan dirhams (63.5 million euro) a year.
