A copyright infringement complaint by 8XBet has been rejected by a US court because the bookmaker declined to provide a signature of its phantom-like CEO. It’s a move that raises more doubts about the real origins of Manchester City's mysterious Asian betting partner.

The complaint was filed by the bookmaker's parent company, 978 Tech NV, with the District Court of Delaware on August 24. In it, 978 Tech NV complained of a number of websites copying its contents, and of Google facilitating their alleged activities. The firm was "represented by [its] Chief Executive Officer Ryan Li", the opening line of the document reads.
Within hours of filing its complaint, the company, which did not engage the services of external lawyers, was contacted by the clerk of the Delaware court, who informed it that the complaint was not valid.
